Description:
Abstract:
MCR2010 was produced for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Region. Data was obtained from the 1:250 000 National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) data available from the Government of Canada and from 1:250 000 United States Geological Survey (USGS) data. NTDB data was revised using satellite imagery and data from secondary sources. This map contains all of the information shown on a National Topographic System (NTS) 1:250 000 topographic map.

Purpose:
This product was produced to depict the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Region.

Data Quality Information

Logical Consistency Report:
This map was produced from vector data and converted to PDF and TIFF formats for distribution.
Completeness Report:
MCR2010 was produced from 1:250 000 National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) data and from 1:250 000 United States Geological Survey (USGS) data. NTDB data was revised using satellite imagery and data from secondary sources.

Positional Accuracy:
Horizontal Positional Accuracy:
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report:
The planimetric accuracy of MCR2010 is function of the planimetric accuracy of a 1:250 000 NTS map. Horizontal accuracy of topographic maps is defined in meters. It was determined according to the STANAG Standards, Edition 5 NATO. It resulted in a four grades:

 A: 125 m.
 B: 250 m.
 C: 500 m.
 D: 1000 m.

The resulting horizontal accuracy is applicable to 90% of all points at publication scale.
Quantitative Horizontal Positional Accuracy Assessment:
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Value:
125
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Explanation:
Minimum horizontal positional accuracy of the data source in meters.
Vertical Positional Accuracy:
Vertical Positional Accuracy Report:
The altimetric accuracy of MCR2010 is a function of the altimetric accuracy of the vector data.

Vertical accuracy of topographic maps is also defined in meters. It was determined according to the STANAG Standards, Edition 5 NATO. It resulted in a five grade classification:

 0: 25 m.
 1: 50 m.
 2: 100 m.
 3: > 100 m.
 4: Unknown

The resulting vertical accuracy is applicable to 90% of all points at publication scale.

Accuracy value of 200 means accuracy is greater than 100 m. Accuracy value of -1 means accuracy unknown.
Quantitative Vertical Positional Accuracy Assessment:
Vertical Positional Accuracy Value:
200
Vertical Positional Accuracy Explanation:
Linear Map Accuracy Standard (LMAS) of the vector map in meters.

Only the English version of the metadata XML file is valid according to XML schema (W3C) as defined by FGDC (http://www.fgdc.gov). French version of the metadata XML file is not valid as it does not always respect domain values for all fields which are sometimes only available in English. The French version is issued mainly for display purposes. User must ensure to validate metadata against the XML schema English version.
