What's New
v.1.0 -- Initial release of limited version in July, 1998
v.1.1 -- October 1, 1998
-
Modern dinoflagellate genera are listed with author citations and references
in the hierarchical classification, but complete taxonomic details are
usually given only for fossil genera and species.
-
The automated program that generates the approximately 60,000 links between
references and taxonomic entries is not perfect. A few "missing links"
may be floating around, and we would appreciate knowing about any that
users may find so that we can fix them.
-
Homonyms can not yet be distinguished by the link-generating program, although
they are currently still accessible via the alphabetical listings.
Future developments
There are no promises, but here are a few things we are either working
on, have planned for future improvements, or would like to add someday
(i.e. a "wish list"). Suggestions are welcome.
-
Fix the homonyms
-
Add synonymies to suprageneric taxa
-
Add representative sketches for each of the fossil genera
-
Add sketches for some of the glossary entries
-
Add more details on modern dinoflagellate genera
-
Include acritarch and spore/pollen genera in an alphabetical listing
-
Establish links to other databases, such as DINOSYS and PALYNODATA
