Lithodinia? strongyla (Sarjeant, 1972, p.35-37, pl.4, fig.7; text-fig.7) Gocht, 1976, p.334.
TYPE: Holotype: Sarjeant, 1972, pl.4, fig.7; text-fig.7. HISTORY: Originally Meiourogonyaulax, subsequently Lithodinia, thirdly (and now) Lithodinia?. Questionable assignment: Williams et al (1993, p.56) who retained the species in Lithodinia. COMMENTS: Sarjeant (1972) cited the epithet as "strongylos", the Greek adjective for rounded. Since Principle 5 of the I.C.B.N. states that taxon names are to be treated as Latin, this epithet should be rendered as "strongyla", in agreement with the feminine gender of the generic name ("strongylum" would be the neuter form, and "strongylus" the masculine form). AGE: Bathonian.
Infraspecific taxa: Go up one level. DINOFLAJ (c) 1998 |
