GeoGratis : AVHRR composite of Canada


The AVHRR composite of Canada is in "JPEG" format and contains 3 channels 
with 5700 pixels by 4800 lines.

Red is the smoothed NDVI of Blue and Green channels below.
Green is AVHRR Channel 2 surface BRDF interpolated.
Blue is AVHRR Channel 1 surface BRDF interpolated.

Research has been conducted at CCRS by the Environmental Monitoring Section 
to study the use of the NOAA image for various projects such as: estimating 
Net Primary Productivity, measuring the albedo at the top of the atmoshpere, 
and detecting forest fires.

Rouge représente le NDVI lissé des canaux bleu et vert ci-dessous.
Vert représente le canal 2 du capteur AVHRR, la surface est interpolée 2 
selon la BRDF.  Bleu représente le canal 1 du capteur AVHRR, la surface 
est interpolée selon la BRDF.

Des études ont été faites par la Section des surveillances environnementales 
du CCT afin d'établir l'utilité de l'image NOAA dans des projets tels que: 
L'estimation de la production primaire nette, la mesure de l'albedo au sommet 
de l'atmosphère, et la détection des feux de forêt.
